Westchester County resident Gina DeCaprio Vercesi writes about the stories of the businesses that have built the character of Little Italy in the Bronx for over the last 100 years. A total of ten local businesses are highlighted, including Teitel Brother, Mike’s Deli, and Casa Della Mozzarella. “This is a place where you have multiple generational businesses. Businesses that our parents, our grandparents, and in some cases our great-grandparents, opened. Bronx’s Little Italy Celebrated Its 25th Annual Ferragosto Festival

Despite the rain, thousands of people attended the event filled with delicious food, clothing, décor and live entertainment. Local residents had the chance to fully immerse themselves in Italian culture. The Annual Ferragosto Festival Resumes Sunday, September 11

Ferragosto is more than about appreciating our local small businesses, this festival dates back to Ancient Rome in 18 B.C. and is an authentic Italian tradition. Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson says the efforts of the Belmont BID is one of the many reasons this celebration is possible.
